SPEAKER PROFILES

Mike Lutes

In 2003, after completing 30 years in law enforcement, Michael incorporated South Shore Private Investigations Ltd as sole owner and President, based in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia and providing service to the entire province.

SSPI Ltd., has four Investigators under license, all of whom have background in criminal investigation and case analysis after retirement from policing.

SSPI Ltd. specializes in investigations that are or may become matters before either Criminal or Civil Court. Such investigations normally require; disclosure review; witness interviews and statement taking; crime scene / site analysis with photographs; and brief preparation. Our investigators are prepared to give sworn testimony at hearings and trials.

Nick Arbour

Nick Arbour is the President and co-founder of ArGen Software Inc. In 2016, he began developing TellMe© with the help of his co-founder, Eric Gendreau. Nick recognized the need to improve an archaic and outdated process. Over the next few years, he worked on improving the software in view of making it a one-stop-shop for everything witness-statement related. In July 2023, after gathering feedback from a pilot organization, the app was officially launched. It was met with great enthusiasm by many organizations across different fields. From law enforcement agencies, to insurance adjusters, to private investigation firms, TellMe© offers the solution to a problem many have struggled with for years.

Outside of this venture, Nick is employed full time and is in the twilight of a successful 23-year career in law enforcement. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2003 with a Business Administration degree with a major in Economics. He is fluently bilingual in French and English and calls New Brunswick home, however he grew up just west of Ottawa. He has recently moved to the Moncton area from Fredericton and adores being so close to the sea.

Lee Gauthier

 Lee has been the Manager of Business Development for Professional Security Knowledge Network (PSKN) for 6 years. The Professional Security Knowledge Network is Canada’s Expert provider of online training for security guards and investigation professionals. Established by the Canadian Police Knowledge Network, PSKN is a trusted source for high quality Canadian content and learning services.

PSKN has been providing Private Investigation education since 2012, when they first partnered with Private Investigators Association of British Columbia to deliver the required course to become a Private Investigator in British Columbia.

Before starting with PSKN Lee managed an IT firm for 7 years and was also the Executive Director of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada/Make -A -Wish for over 23 years. Lee has helped grant wishes to hundreds of Island children who have a high-risk life-threatening disease.

Jordan Landry

Jordan joined Whitehall Canada in 2016, after obtaining a dual university degree and college diploma in Media, Theory and Production from Western University and Fanshawe College.

As Manager of Whitehall’s Cyber & Digital Investigations Unit, Jordan has handled countless investigations across Canada and abroad, with a focus on insurance and corporate matters. Jordan is a lifelong learner, with a passion for the ways in which technology enhances investigations, ensuring Whitehall remains at the cutting edge of investigative tools and concepts.

Jordan also acts as Assistant Case Manager for Western Canada and the Maritimes, assisting with, and managing, on-the-ground investigations.

CSIS Speaker

 Eric currently serves as the Regional Liaison Officer for the CSIS Halifax office. He has over twenty years of experience working different national security files, both as an analyst at the national headquarters in Ottawa and as an investigator in different regional offices within Canada.

Rhonda Hines

Rhonda began her insurance career in 1985 working for various insurance companies and obtained her CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation in 1994. After ending her adjusting career with Wawanesa Mutual Insurance she joined Mainview Investigation Services in 2002 in the position of General Manager/Investigator. She has been licensed for 22 years providing full investigation services from surveillance, skip tracing, social media searches, asset searches, witness interviews, due diligence and professional misconduct investigations.

Rhonda is one of the founding members of CPI-AC and have served as Treasurer for the past 19 years. Rhonda joined the board of the Canadian Association of Professional Investigators in 2011 serving in various positions including President.

Andrew Parsons

Andrew has been licenced in the industry for over 17 years, the last 8 years as Regional Manager of Xpera Investigations in Atlantic Canada.

He specializes in surveillance, locates/skip tracing, and asset searches. Andrew had been a valued member of the board for CPI-AC.

Martin Jaekel

Martin has served the investigation industry for 40 years with a focus on insurance (P&C and Life and Health) and corporate fraud investigation. In addition to being licensed across Canada and handling assignments globally, he is also the President of Whitehall Bureau America.

The investigations Martin has been involved in range in scope, from alleged terrorist activity and foreign death investigations to complex claims matters involving fatalities and serious injury.

One of the best enjoyments of his career is mentoring and watching new investigators excel in the investigation industry.

Martin is also a published author, earned his Certified Fraud Examiner certification in 1994 and is passionate entrepreneur and presenter/trainer. He is recognized as an industry leader within the investigation community across Canada including:

  • Past President ~ Canadian Association of Private Investigators;
  • Past President ~ International Association of Arson Investigators ;(Ontario) and
  • Ethics Director ~ Council of Private Investigators

Cynthia Taylor

Cynthia is the Vice President of The Discovery Group of Investigators; an international investigation firm and she has been licenced Private Investigator for 38 years. She has conducted a wide range of Corporate and Insurance investigations, with a forte in surveillance investigations. She has attended court to provide evidence and has been involved with the industry training; teaching the Ontario/provincial mandated course at the college level for 10 years.

Cynthia is the Membership Director for CPI-AC.

The Council of Professional Investigators -Atlantic Canada will be hosting a Professional Development Day, Job Fair, and AGM for members on May 30, 2024, at the Future Inns, located at 30 Fairfax Drive,  Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Professional Development Day will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and will feature industry speakers, a panel discussion, and Q&A period.

A Job Fair will take place immediately following the Professional Development Day, running 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Our Annual General Meeting will follow the Job Fair, starting at 5:30 p.m. All interested CPI-AC members are welcome to participate in this meeting.
